  4. The mood in the two texts is very different. Dead Mans Shoes is a regular story, where the tone is neither happy nor dark. The Wasteland is a very grim story, where the tone is very dark.

  5. The story Dead Man's Shoes is about race apartheid and The Wasteland isn't. The Wasteland is also a slightly darker story than Dead Man's Shoes. The similarities is that there are a conflict in both stories.

  6. The differences between the two texts could be the writers themes in the two stories when It comes South Africa.
In dead mans shoes we read about apartheid when it comes to how they treat the black man on the porch, and they talk about how they would have killed him back in the old days.
In Wasteland one of the more clear themes could be about how poverty drives you into crime, when we read about how a son tries to rob his own father and how the outcome turns out with the father killing his own son and walking from the scene without signs of grief.
The similarities in the texts could be something about race relations and social equality or inequality.

  8. "The Wasteland" is a more dramatic and dark story in comparision to "Dead Man's Shoes". "The Wasteland" was written back in 1961 when apartheid was still in its full effect and the country is in a very miserable state. "Dead Man's Shoes" takes place a few years after the official abolishment of apartheid, but it's still there, just in a more subtle way.

  9. One of the similarities between the two short stories is of course the fact that the stories take place in South Africa and describes the situation there. Another similarity is that race is an important theme in both of the stories.

  11. The similarities between “Wasteland” and “Dead man’s shoes” are, both texts are about social classes. In Wasteland we see this in the desperation of the young men, and we see it in Dead man’s shoes, when the two suitors visit the farm.

The differences between the two texts are racism. The suitors are a bit racial, and we see no signs of racism in “waste land”.

  12. Both stories is about some desperate, young men, who will do almost everything for money. But the biggest difference is that, "The Wastelands" doesn't have a happy ending, where "Dead Man's Shoes" ends with a happy ending, where the protagonist marries "the girl"

The difference between "The Waste land" and "Dead man's shoes" is the settings, the environment in "Dead man's shoes" is quiet and the story takes place in a village."The Waste land" takes place a night in a city and it is terrible and horrifying. 16. Differences:
The settings in "The Waste Land" are more hard and has a sombre mood. Comparing to "The dead man's shoes", because it's more competitive and judgmental. There are also a couple of main characters more in it than in the other one.

    Similarities:
Both short stories are about low society classes, and trying to survive among the enemies (the first one is about running for his life, and the second one is about getting/"winning" the woman.
